The First Boulder Cemetery (also known as Old Boulder) was established in September 1899 under the care, control and management of the Boulder Cemetery Board.  The Cemetery operated until it was officially declared closed on the 30 May 1904.  The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder became responsible for this Cemetery when the Shire of Boulder and Town of Kalgoorlie amalgamated in 1989.

The Boulder Cemetery was established in June 1904 and replaced the First Boulder Cemetery.  The Boulder Cemetery Board disbanded in 1974 and the care, control and management were passed to the Shire of Boulder and then to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder when the Shire of Boulder and Town of Kalgoorlie amalgamated in 1989.  In October 1992 the Kalgoorlie Cemetery Board took over the care, control and management from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and became known as the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Cemetery Board.

The Goldfields Crematorium was officially opened on 11 September 1988 under the care, control and management of the then Kalgoorlie Cemetery Board and the first cremation took place on the 30 September 1988.
